The project

The "Nidi di Comunità" project ensures equal opportunities for education and care for children from early childhood through the creation and enhancement of early childhood services.

The primary focus is on families that are particularly vulnerable, facing a discrepancy between work and caring needs, experiencing economic poverty, or with children who exhibit developmental risk factors.

In addition to the services provided to children, parallel interventions are applied to support families through empowerment projects aimed at enhancing parenting skills.

Where?

This project operates in both urban and rural areas across 6 regions in Italy: Campania, Puglia, Sicilia, Calabria, Piemonte, and Molise

Special attention is given to small communities where "agri-nidi" (agricultural childcare centers) are established, providing outdoor activities and direct contact with nature.

Goals

  • Protect early childhood, especially those coming from at-risk backgrounds.
  • Promote educational approaches in line with contemporary pedagogical and health sciences.
  • Restore the work-home balance by promoting quality time.
  • Reduce territorial, economic, and cultural inequalities with the involvement of more rural areas.

Impact

  • 500 family units involved
  • 380 beneficiaries aged 0-3
  • 120 beneficiaries aged up to 6 years
